When and where is the workshop organized?
The workshop is tentatively planned on 18 June 2019 in Quang Ngai City and the excursion on 19 June to Ly Son island, which is 15 nautical miles offshore.

Who will be invited to the workshop?
Due to limited seat availability, the workshop is reserved for a certain number of participants, including relevant United Nations bodies, international organizations, central governmental agencies, institutes, universities, members of Global Geoparks Network, aspiring geoparks, provinces associated with Sa Huynh Culture in the central Vietnam, and authorities and communities from Ly Son - Sa Huynh Geopark.

What should I do to register the workshop?
The workshop participants will be formally invited by the organization board. However, certain seats will be available for those who are interested in the workshop themes. You are encouraged to contact the organization board at for more details.

How to get to the workshop venue?
There are several ways to reach Quang Ngai City, either by planes, trains or buses.

By planes
Participants from outside Vietnam can enter Vietnam via Hanoi (Noi Bai Airport), Hochiminh City (Tan Son Nhat Airport) or Danang (Danang Aiport). From Hanoi or Hochiminh City, you will take a domestic flight to Chu Lai Airport or Danang Airport, which takes around 1 hour.

From Danang Airport, which is 130km from Quang Ngai City, you can take a taxi (costs of VND 1,500,000 or USD 70) or a bus (outside the airport, costs of VND 130,000 or USD 6) or train (railroad station about 5km from the airport by taxi, train ticket costs about VND 150,000 or USD 7).

From Chu Lai Airport, which is 42km from Quang Ngai City, you can take a taxi (costs of VND 450,000 or USD 20) or the shuttle bus (at the Arrival Terminal, costs of VND 35,000 or USD 1.5).

By trains:
There are a number of trains running from either Hanoi, Hochiminh City and Danang to Quang Ngai City. More information on schedule and costs is available at

By bus:
Though there are many bus routes from Hanoi, Hochiminh City and Danang to Quang Ngai City, it is not recommended to workshop participants, given less security and safety. You are recommended to contact the organization board for further advice.

Is there any fee for participants?
No. All expenses will be covered for those formally invited by the organization board.

Those who are interested in the workshop and their registation is accepted will have to cover all the expenses by themselves or by their sponsors.

Will the workshop materials be publicly shared?
Yes. All the abstracts, presentations and other relevant materials produced for this workshop will be uploaded to this webpage, after the workshop.

Is there time limit for the presentations?
Yes, each presentation will be limited within 15 minutes, including questions and answers.

What are the geofair and exhibition themes and who can join?
The geofair and exhibition is designed to promote the visibility of geoparks, Sa Huynh Culture and local products to workshop participants. Products and materials are for display or distribution only. No selling is allowed.

Can I bring my family members to the workshop and along the excursion?
Due to our limited capacity, family members, especially babies, are not encouraged during the event.

What should I bring along during the excursion?
It is really hot in June. The temperature can usually reach 35 degree Celsius during daytime. It is recommended that you have a hat, long sleeve shirt, sun blocks, water and comfortable shoes with you during the excursion.

As Ly Son island is about 15 nautical miles offshore and it takes around 40 minutes travelling by ferry, those who have sea or motion sickness are recommended to have appropriate medicine with you.
